SU Baseball Crushes Maroons, Corbin & Nats Beat LA, O’s Host Angels
Shenandoah University baseball won it’s 10th straight game yesterday and advanced to the ODAC Tournament winners bracket with a dominant 11-0 win over Roanoke yesterday. The 29-11 Hornets pounded out 17 hits and Robert Klinchock tossed his second consecutive shutout, allowing only 4 hits. SU will now play top-seed Randolph Macon today in Salem. The winner of that contest will have 2 chances to claim the ODAC title.
SU Track and Field will compete this weekend as they wind down their season.
Off the field, Senior second baseman Tristan Baker was named Google Cloud first-team Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Baker, a 3.69 sports management major, is now a candidate for Academic All-America honors.
And 3 Hornet Men’s lacrosse players have been named All-ODAC. Ryan Schott, Michael Brooks and Jason Morgan were all honored by the league.
The Nationals got back into the win column last night with a 6-0 win over the Dodgers. Patrick Corbin tossed 7 shutout innings, and Howie Kendrick drove in 4 runs as the Nats broke LA’s 10-game home win streak. Kendrick’s 3-run homer in the first inning were all the runs the Nationals would need as the won for only the fourth time in their last 16 games. The Nats and Dodgers play game 2 of the series tonight starting at 9:40 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles entertain the Angels tonight. First pitch is 7:05 at Camden Yards.
