Shenandoah University’s Shamyra Wilkerson just missed making the 200 meter final yesterday at the NCAA D-3 Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The Hornet baseball team is 2 wins away from their third appearance in the D-3 College World Series. They’ll take on the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays in game one of a “Super-Regional” today in Baltimore. It’s a best 2-of-3 series, with the winner advancing to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow.

yesterday, Tristan Baker and Keegan Woolford were named to the D3baseball.com All-South Region team. Baker was a second team selection, while Woolford was named to the third team.

The New York Mets completed a 4-game sweep of the Washington Nationals yesterday with a 6-4 victory. Once again, the Nat’s bullpen wasted a strong performance, as Wander Suero gave up a 3-run home run in the dreaded 8th inning. The Carlos Gomez blast erased a 4-3 Nationals lead and spoiled 7 strong innings by Stephen Strasburg. The Nationals return home to face the Miami Marlins in a 4-game weekend set. Air time is 6:35 tonight on Sports Radio 1450.

And the Baltimore Orioles were swept by the New York Yankees, who beat the Birds 6-5 yesterday at Camden Yards. The O’s tied the contest with a 4-run 8th, only to see the Yankees push across the go-ahead run in the 9th. The Orioles will be in Colorado tonight to take on the Rockies at 8:40.
