VBL Season Underway, Nats Head To Cincy, O’s Host Giants

Another season of Valley League Baseball begins tonight with games all around the area:
Defending champion New Market hosts Strasburg at 7:30
Front Royal travels to Staunton at 7:30
Woodstock plays at Purcellville at 7
Charlottesville is on the road at Harrisonburg for a 7:30 start
and Waynesboro hosts Covington at 7
Winchester opens tomorrow at home versus Front Royal.

The Washington Nationals hope to continue their improved play tonight when they open a series in Cincinnati. The 24-32 Nats have won 5 of their last 6 heading into tonight’s game with the Reds. Patrick Corbin, who is 5-2 on the season, takes the ball for Washington. Air time is 6:40 on Sports Radio 1450.

The Orioles host the Giants tonight as they start a 3-game weekend series at Camden Yards. The Birds are 17-39 overall and just 7-21 at home. The Giants are in last place in the NL West, and have won just 2 of their last 10. First pitch is set for 7:05.

On the PGA Tour, Ryan Moore is the leader after an opening round 7-under par at Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament. Jordan Spieth is just one shot back heading into today’s second round in Dublin, Ohio.

And the Toronto Raptors won Game One of the NBA Finals last night, beating the Golden State Warriors 118-109. Game Two is Sunday night in Toronto.
