VHSL Playoffs Begin, SU Update, Browns Stop The Steelers
The “second season” begins tonight in area high school football as the VHSL playoffs begin. Here is the weekend schedule:
Class 4 Region C
7-3 Millbrook travels to undefeated Broad Run tonight at 7
7-3 Sherando plays at 9-1 Tuscarora at 7
8-2 Handley hosts 6-4 Loudoun Valley tomorrow at 1
Class 3 Region B
4-6 Central plays at 7-3 James Monroe at 7
5-5 Skyline travels to 6-4 William Monroe at 7
Class 2 Region B
8-2 Clarke hosts 6-4 East Rockingham at 7
7-3 Strasburg plays at 8-2 Luray at 7
7-3 Page travels to 9-1 Buckingham County at 7
On the Shenandoah University sports scene:
Women’s basketball hosts Southern Virginia tonight at 7
Cross Country competes in the NCAA South/Southeast Championships tomorrow at 11:30 am
Field Hockey takes on Alvernia in the ECAC tourney tomorrow.
And, Football hosts W&L tomorrow starting at 12:30 on The River 95-3, as SU honors the seniors.
The NFL weekend began last night as the Cleveland Browns stopped the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-7 in the Thursday Night game. Baker Mayfield threw for 2 scores, while the Browns defense picked off Steeler QB Mason Rudolph 4 times.
The Washington Redskins return to action Sunday when they entertain the New York Jets at 1pm. The Baltimore Ravens host the Houston Texans Sunday at 1.
And, The Washington Capitals return to the ice tonight when they host Montreal. The Caps sit atop the NHL’s Metro Division at 14-2-4. Air time is 6:45 on CBS Sports radio 1450.
