Cowboys Stun Saints, Championship Weekend, SU Hoop In Action
The Shenandoah University men and women’s basketball teams are in action this weekend at the Wilkins Center. Saturday, the Hornet men entertain Hampden-Sydney in an ODAC contest at 2. You can hear that game on The River 95-3. Meanwhile, the SU women host Lynchburg in a battle of Hornets Sunday at 2. The men are 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the ODAC, while the women are 3-3 and 0-2 in the league.
The Dallas Cowboys are now alone atop the NFC East after stunning the Saints last night 13-10. A dominating Dallas defense held Drew Brees to just 127 yards passing on the night, as the Saint’s 10-game win streak came to an end. The Cowboys improved to 7-5, while New Orleans dropped to 10-2 on the season.
The Washington Redskins can move back into a first place tie with Dallas, but they’ll have to wait until Monday night when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The 6-5 ‘Skins have lost 3 of their last 4, while the Eagles are trying to claw their way back into NFC East mix at 5-6. Kickoff Monday is 8:15 from Philly.
The 6-5 Ravens travel to Atlanta Sunday for a 1pm kickoff against the Falcons.
It’s so-called “Championship Weekend” in college football as lots of conference championship games are on the docket. The Big 12 Championship game has Oklahoma versus Texas. The Big 10 title will be decided as Ohio State takes on Northwestern. And the SEC Championship game pits Alabama against Georgia. The final CFP rankings will also come out after all the games have been played, and bowl bids will also go out this weekend.
5-6 Virginia Tech will try to become bowl eligible when they take on
8-3 Marshall at Lane Stadium tomorrow at noon.
And, the Washington Capitals will go for their seventh win in a row when they skate at home against New Jersey tonight at 7. Air time is 6:45 on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
