Chiefs Lasso Texans, Braves HRs Down Nats, O’s-Yanks PPD
Patrick Mahomes tossed 3 touchdown passes as the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs beat the Houston Texans last night 34-20 in the NFL 2020 season opener. The Chiefs scored 31 unanswered points after falling behind 7-0 in front of an Arrowhead Stadium crowd that was limited to 22 percent capacity.
The Week One NFL Schedule resumes Sunday. Among the games:
The Washington Football Team hosts Philadelphia at 1pm
The Baltimore Ravens entertain Cleveland at 1
The Cowboys play the Rams in the Sunday Night game.
Freddie Freeman blasted 2 home runs, and Dansby Swanson provided the game winning homer in the 8th inning, as the Atlanta Braves shook off an early 5-0 deficit to beat the Nationals 7-6 last night. Swanson’s blast came off Tanner Rainey, who took the loss for DC. The 16-26 Nats host the Braves tonight starting at 5:35 on CBS Sports Radio 1450
The Orioles-Yankees game last night was postponed due to severe weather. That contest will be made up today as part of a doubleheader starting at 4:05.
And, major college football will be played on Saturday. Among the regional games:
UVA will be in Blacksburg to take on rival Virginia Tech
WVU hosts Eastern Kentucky at noon.
And, Americans Serena Williams and Jennifer Brady both lost their semifinal matches at the US Open tennis tournament. The men’s semifinals will be played today.
