Local High School Football, Ravens Lose To Cincy, JMU Rolls
In local high school football yesterday:
Clarke County beat Waynesboro 49-7
Millbrook crushed Turner Ashby 67-28
James Wood beat Warren County 27-14
Handley blanked Skyline 35-0
and Luray beat Stonewall Jckson 52-0
Because of Florence, there are no high school games in Virginia tonight.
In college football last night, JMU routed Robert Morris 73-7. The Dukes led at halftime 52-0 and cruised to their second win of the season.
UVA will play Ohio tomorrow afternoon in Nashville…while the WVU-NC State game and the Virginia Tech-East Carolina game have been cancelled.
Shenandoah University entertains Hobart tomorrow night at Shentel Stadium. The Hornets are looking for a perfect 3-0 start to the season. Air time is 6:30 on The River 95-3.
The Cincinnati Bengals outlasted the Baltimore Ravens last night 34-23, as week 2 got underway in the NFL. A.J. Green snagged 3 TD passes as the Bengals raced out to a 21-0 lead and improved to 2-0 on the season. The Ravens fell to 1-1.
The Washington Redskins host the Indianapolis Colts Sunday in their home opener at Fed-Ex Field. The ‘Skins are coming off an opening 24-6 win against Arizona. Kickoff is set for 1pm in DC.
The Chicago Cubs nipped the Washington Nationals yesterday 4-3 in a makeup game at Nationals Park. The loss put a stop to the Nationals’ 5-game win streak. The Nats travel to Atlanta to start a weekend series with the Braves. Air time is 7pm on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
And, the Orioles beat the Oakland A’s last night at Camden Yards 5-3.The Birds host the White Sox tonight at 7:05.
