Nats Play 2 Today, O’s Swept In Twinbill, Browns Outscore Bengals

The Washington Nationals start a 5-game series with the Miami Marlins today with a doubleheader. The 18-29 Nats begin the day in the the NL East cellar, and despite an expanded 16-team playoff format this year, are unlikely to make the postseason to defend their World Series title. Air time this afternoon for Game 1 is 4:40 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.

The Tampa Bay Rays clinched an AL playoff spot with a doubleheader sweep of the Baltimore Orioles yesterday. The Rays won the opener 3-1, and then took the nightcap in a 10-6 slugfest. The two teams play again tonight at 7:35.

Baker Mayfield threw 2 touchdown passes and Nick Chubb added 124 rushing yards, as the Cleveland Browns outscored the Cincinnati Bengals 35-30, as week 2 got underway in the NFL last night. Bengals rookie QB Joe Burrow threw for over 300 yards in the loss.

On Sunday:
The Washington Football Team will play at Arizona at 4pm
The Ravens will travel to Houston for a 4:25 kickoff.

And, Justin Thomas took advantage of the benign conditions at Winged Foot Golf Club yesterday with a 5 under-par 65 to grab the first round lead at the US Open. Patrick Reed heads up a group of 3 golfers just one shot back. The world’s number-one player, Dustin Johnson, struggled to a 3-over 73. Tiger Woods is also at plus-3. Round two is today.
