Area High School Football…Mayfield Sparks Browns…Nats Fall To Mets
On the Shenandoah University sports scene, Women’s volleyball fell in 5 sets to Mt. Aloysius. There are no athletic events scheduled today, but there’s a full schedule this weekend, excluding football. The Hornets return to action next Saturday against Ferrum, as ODAC play begins.

On Sunday, the Redskins host Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. And the Broncos visit the Ravens.
The Baker Mayfield era began last night as the Cleveland Browns broke a 19-game losing streak and beat the New York Jets 21-17. The former Heisman trophy winner replaced starter Tyrod Taylor late in the first half and led Cleveland to the comeback win.
Max Scherzer struck out 13 last night, but it was the Mets who prevailed, with a 5-4 12-inning win over the Nats in DC. Scherzer, who didn’t factor in the decision, set a franchise record for strikeouts in a season. The Nationals host the Mets tonight at 7:05.
The O’s are in New York tonight to take on the Yankees.
And, Rickie Fowler & Tiger Woods share the lead after one round of the PGA Tour Championship.
