SU Scoreboard, Nats Salvage A Game In Miami, Caps-Canes Game 6
On the Shenandoah University sports scene from the weekend:
Outdoor Track & Field competed in the ODAC Championships, with the women finishing fifth and the men finishing sixth. Shamyra Wilkerson won both the 100 and 200 meter titles.
On Saturday, SU baseball split an ODAC doubleheader with Hampden-Sydney, losing 20-6 before out-slugging the Tigers 17-14 in the nightcap.
There are no events scheduled today.
The Washington Nationals got 8 shutout innings and 11 strikeouts from Stephen Strasburg in a 5-0 win yesterday in Miami. Ryan Zimmerman hit a pair of homers for the Nats, who managed to salvage one game from the Marlins in the weekend series. The Nationals start a series in Colorado tonight, with first pitch scheduled for 8:40.
The Twins nipped the Baltimore Orioles yesterday 4-3 to complete a weekend sweep of the Birds. The O’s host the White Sox tonight at 7:05 at Camden Yards.
After a dominating 6-0 win on Saturday, the Washington Capitals head back to Carolina tonight in hopes of closing out the Hurricanes in the NHL Playoffs. The Caps lead the best-of-seven series 3-2, and with a win, would take on the well-rested New York Islanders in Round Two. Air time tonight is 6:45 on Sports Radio 1450.
And in golf, CT Pan finished at 12 under par to win the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, South Carolina. Pan edged Matt Kuchar by one stroke to win his first-ever PGA Tour event.
