SU Weekend Recap, Nats Blanked By Mets, Wild Finish At Talladega

In Shenandoah University action from yesterday, Baseball split a twinbill with Ferrum, Men’s Golf is eighth and Women’s Golf fifth after day one of the ODAC Championships, Women’s Tennis defeated Roanoke, and Volleyball swept Ferrum.

Today, the ODAC Golf Championships continue in North Carolina, while Softball plays 2 at Randolph.

For the second time in 3 games, the Washington Nationals were shut out by the New York Mets. The Nats were held to only five hits, and Patrick Corbin’s struggles continued in the 4-0 loss. Corbin lasted only four innings, giving up all of the Mets’ four runs. The 8-11 Nationals are off today before starting a series against Toronto tomorrow on Sports Radio 1450.

The Baltimore Orioles improved to 9-12 with an 8-1 win over the A’s, ending Oakland’s 13-game win streak. The O’s entertain the Yankees tonight at Camden Yards.

And, in a wild race at Talladega, Brad Keselowski won the NASCAR Cup Series Geico 500 in overtime. The race featured a first-stage crash involving Joey Logano, whose car went airborne. For Keselowski, it was his sixth win at the famed Alabama track.
