SU Football Falls To BC, Caps Hang On, Nats Opener Uncertain

3 interceptions led to a 22-14 Shenandoah University football loss in their Spring finale Saturday night. 2 of the picks were returned for touchdowns as BC built a 15-0 lead. The Hornets got to within 15-14 on 2 Rashadeen Byrd touchdowns, but could not come all the way back, as they ended the season at 1-4.

Over the weekend, SU Baseball was swept by Roanoke, Men’s Soccer lost to Guilford in double OT, Softball split a pair with the Quakers, Track & Field picked up 13 total wins at Mary Washington, and Women’s Tennis beat Guilford. No athletic events are scheduled today.

The Washington Capitals built a 5-2 lead and hung on for a 5-4 win over New Jersey yesterday. Alex Ovechkin had a goal and 2 assists to lead the Caps, who take on the Islanders tomorrow at 7 on the River 95-3.

Because of COVID issues on their squad, the Washington Nationals opening series against the Mets was postponed this past weekend. The Nats, who were scheduled to play in Atlanta today, will now have to wait until Tuesday at 4:05 to take on the Braves. You can hear the play-by-play on CBS Sports Radio 1450.

And tonight, Baylor will take on undefeated Gonzaga for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. The Bears rolled over Houston in one National Semifinal Saturday, while the Zags needed an overtime buzzer-beater to beat UCLA in the other semi. Tip off is at 9:20 on the River 95-3 and Sports Radio 1450.
