Nats Salvage Game With Mets, O’s Walk Off Astros, Reed Wins
The Washington Nationals held off the New York Mets yesterday 7-4 to salvage one game of the weekend series. The Nats broke a 3-all tie with a 2-run double by Asdrubal Cabrera, then added insurance with a 2-run homer by Victor Robles. Sean Doolittle came on in the 9th and got the save for the Nationals, who entertain the Reds tonight. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
One day removed from a 23-2 loss to Houston, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Astros yesterday 8-7, on a 2-run walk-off home run by Rio Ruiz. The Birds play a day-night doubleheader in New York today against the Yankees. Game times are 1:05 and 7:05 from Yankee Stadium.
On the PGA Tour, Patrick Reed was a one-shot winner at the Northern Trust tournament outside New York City. The event was the kickoff to the Fed-Ex Cup playoffs.
On the NASCAR circuit, Kevin Harvick won the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
And, The River 95-3, WZRV is once again the home for Shenandoah University football play-by-play. The Hornets kick off the 2019 season Saturday, September 7 with a home game against Methodist on the Sprint Field of Shentel Stadium.
