Nats Out-slug Brewers, South Riding LL Advances
The Washington Nationals collected 19 hits on the way to a 16-8 win over Milwaukee yesterday. The win came one day after an epic 15-14 extra-inning loss against the Brewers, and kept the Nats atop the NL Wild Card race. The Nationals hit 8 homers on the afternoon, including 2 each from Juan Soto and Brian Dozier. The Nats, who tied a franchise record for most runs scored in 2 consecutive games, head to Pittsburgh for a 4-game series with the Pirates. Air time tonight

The Boston Red Sox overcame a 6-0 deficit to beat the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Fenway Park. The Sox scored 6 runs in the 6th and 4 more in the 7th to overtake the Birds. The O’s host the Royals tonight at 7:05.
At the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., the South Riding All-Stars from nearby Loudoun County crushed Minnesota yesterday 11-0. The game was called in the 4th inning due to the mercy rule, as South Riding pitchers threw their second consecutive combined no-hitter. The Virginia representative remains undefeated in the double-elimination tournament.
On the PGA Tour, Justin Thomas won the BMW Championship to capture the Tour Championship’s top seed. Thomas was a 3-shot winner over Patrick Cantlay at the famed Medinah Course Number 3.
And, in the NASCAR Cup Series, Denny Hamlin was a winner Saturday night at Bristol.
