Voth Struggles In Nats Loss, O’s Slide Continues, Rahm Takes BMW
Despite a record weekend from Trea Turner, the Washington Nationals lost 2 of 3 to Boston, including yesterday’s 9-5 defeat. Once again, a Nats starter struggled, this time Austin Voth, who gave up 5 earned runs in just 2 innings. Turner set a Nationals record with 11 hits in the 3-game set, including 8 consecutive hits, and takes a 16-game hitting streak into tonight’s game with Philadelphia. Air time is 6:35 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles lost their 5th consecutive game in a 6-5 loss to Toronto. Teosco Hernandez’ game-winning 2-run single in the bottom of the 9th dropped the O’s to 14-19 on the season, as they finish the series with the Jays today at 2:07.
And, in golf, Spain’s John Rahm won the BMW Championship by defeating Dustin Johnson in a playoff, sinking a 66-foot birdie putt. The Fed-Ex Cup Playoffs conclude with the Tour Championship this weekend, featuring the top 30 players. Johnson and Rahm will enter the championship 1 & 2 respectively in the Fed-Ex Cup standings.
