SU Update, Ravens & Skins Post Victories, Caps Head West
Shenandoah University Men’s Basketball improved to 3-2 with 2 wins over the weekend, including a 74-60 victory over Gallaudet yesterday at the Wilkins Center. The Hornets led by 11 at the break and overcame a cold shooting second half to secure the win over the 0-7 Bison. Chris Chaney led the way with 21 for SU, which also won Saturday at home against Emory & Henry 101-95. Next up for Shenandoah, a Wednesday 7pm matchup against Marymount on The River 95-3.
The Hornet Women are also 3-2 after yesterdays 69-49 win at Ferrum. Shenandoah got a 20-point effort from senior Jordan Sondrol, as they improved to 2-0 in the ODAC. The SU Women are back in action Wednesday at Goucher.
The Washington Redskins pounded out nearly 250 yards rushing yesterday in a 29-21 road win at Carolina. Derrius Guice ran for 129 yards, Adrian Peterson added 99, and the defense chipped in with 7 sacks in the ‘Skins second consecutive win. 3-9 Washington will head to Green Bay next Sunday.
Meanwhile, in what could be a Super Bowl preview, the Baltimore Ravens got a game-winning field goal from Justin Tucker in a gritty 20-17 win against San Francisco. The Ravens now hold the top spot in the AFC after New England’s 28-22 loss yesterday against Houston in the NFL Sunday Night game.
Tonight, the Seahawks entertain Minnesota in a game with playoff implications.
And the red-hot Washington Capitals, winners of 3 straight, head to San Jose tomorrow night to take on the Sharks. Air time is 10:15 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
