NFL Update, WFT Faces Undefeated Steelers, Weekend College Recap
In the NFL yesterday, the New York Giants grabbed sole possession of first place in the NFC East with a 17-12 upset win at Seattle. Eagles QB Carson Wentz was benched in a 30-16 loss to Green Bay. And, in the Sunday Night NFL game, Kansas City got past the pesky Broncos 22-16. Both the Chiefs and the Saints clinched playoff spots yesterday.
Tonight, it’s a Monday NFL doubleheader, as the 4-7 Washington Football Team tries to knock off 11-0 Pittsburgh at 5, followed by the Bills-49ers nightcap. Dallas plays Baltimore on Tuesday.
In college football over the weekend, number-3 Clemson pulled away from Virginia Tech 45-10. Virginia outscored Boston College 43-32. And WVU was embarassed at number-9 Iowa State 42-6.
And, on the hardwoods, 11th-ranked West Virginia used a 14-2 second-half run to grab an 80-71 win at Georgetown. Number-19 Richmond entertains Wofford this afternoon at 2. Number-1 Gonzaga has suspended all men’s basketball activities through December 14th after 2 positive coronavirus tests within the program.
