VBL Scoreboard…Braves Chop Down Nats…Lowry Wins 148th Open

The Atlanta Braves earned a split of their weekend series with the Nationals with a 7-1 win last night on national TV. The Braves’ Kevin Gausman dominated the Nats with 7 innings of 1-run baseball. Washington’s only tally came in the 8th on a bloop RBI single from Gerardo Parra. Joe Ross took the loss for the Nationals, who return home to face Colorado tonight at 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles’ Asher Wojociechowski took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Trey Mancini hit 2 home runs as Baltimore blanked Boston 5-0. The O’s, who took the weekend series from the Red Sox, travel west to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at 9:40.
Ireland’s Shane Lowry won the 148th Open Championship on his home turf yesterday, battling the elements at Royal Portrush and outdistancing the field with a 15 under-par total. Tommy Fleetwood finished second, while Brooks Koepka had yet another top-5 finish in a major championship. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Phil Mickleson all missed the cut and were not around for the weekend.
And, Kevin Harvick won the NASCAR Monster Energy Series event yesterday in New Hampshire.
