Berger Wins PGA Event, MLB UPdate, Hamlin Takes Checkered Flag

Daniel Berger won the Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas yesterday. Berger needed an extra playoff hole to defeat Collin Morikawa in the PGA Tour’s first event since it’s coronavirus shutdown. There were no fans at the event.

The MLB Players’ Union has rejected the league’s latest proposal for a shortened season, and instead of continuing the back-and-forth with the league, it’s asked MLB to set a schedule. Under a March deal, if the two sides can’t agree on a plan, MLB can set the schedule. Under that circumstance, the season would probably be only 50 games, with players paid prorated salaries. Money has been the major stumbling block in the negotiations.

And, Denny Hamlin won yesterday’s weather-delayed Dixie Vodka 400 NASCAR Cup Series event at Miami-Homestead. It was the first NASCAR event to allow fans, as 1000 members of the military from a nearby base were invited. The victory was Hamlin’s third of the season.
