Matt Adams’ 2 home runs led a 15-hit Nationals attack in a 15-5 win over Arizona yesterday. Adams’ second blast, a grand slam in the 8th inning broke the contest wide open, as the Nats salvaged a split of the 4-game series. Anibal Sanchez pitched 6 innings of 2-run baseball to get the win. The Nationals start a key series tonight at home, as they host the Philadelphia Phillies. Patrick Corbin gets the ball for the Nats. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
Meanwhile, the Orioles dropped an 8-6 decision to Boston in 10 innings. The Sox posted 5 runs in the top of the 10th and then had to hold off an O’s rally, as the Birds scored 3 in the bottom of the frame. The Orioles head to Oakland for a 10:07 first pitch tonight.
35 year-old Gary Woodland held off defending champion Brooks Koepka yesterday to win the 119th US Open golf tournament at Pebble Beach.
