The Washington Nationals’ bullpen faltered again yesterday in a 4-3 10-inning loss to Atlanta. Down 2-0, the Nats rallied to tie the game in the 7th on 5 consecutive 2-out hits, only to see reliever Tanner Rainey give up a 2-run homer in the 10th. The loss comes on the heels of a Saturday loss that saw the Nationals pen give up 9 runs in the latter innings. The Nationals, now 8 1/2 games behind the Braves in the NL East, are off today before heading to Miami on Tuesday.
The Baltimore Orioles were pounded by Seattle yesterday 13-3. The Birds entertain former Oriole Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres tomorrow night at Camden Yards.
The undefeated and unscored-upon USA women’s soccer team is back on the pitch today when they take on Spain in the FIFA World Cup. On the line is a berth in the quarter-finals. Match time is 12 noon.
On the PGA Tour, Chez Reavie won the Travelers Championship with a 17-under par score…
