Harvick Wins NASCAR Race, McGregor Retires, Ex-Redskin Fatally Shot
Kevin Harvick picked up his second NASCAR Cup series win of the season yesterday, taking the checkered flag at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Before the race, NASCAR took a few moments to say it must do better on racial justice. The pre-race ceremony included a 30-second moment of silence.
UFC fighter Conor McGregor announced his retirement yesterday for the the third time in four years. The 31 year-old former two-division champ tweeted a photo of him and his mother, saying “thank you all for the amazing memories. What a ride it’s been.”
And ex-NFL receiver Reche Caldwell was fatally shot Saturday night in Tampa. He was 41. His mother told a Tampa newspaper that police believe he was ambushed outside his home in a possible robbery attempt. Caldwell played 4 seasons with the Chargers after being drafted in 2002, then one season each with the Patriots and Redskins.
