Hornets Announce 2020 Football Slate, SU Seniors Honored, Skins Sign Darby
Shenandoah University head football coach Scott Yoder announced his squad’s 2020 schedule on Friday. The Hornets will play the same 10 opponents that were on their 2019 schedule, just the second time in program history that SU has played the same 10 teams that were on the previous year’s slate. Shenandoah will open up at Methodist on September 5th, the host NC Wesleyan on the 12th, before beginning ODAC play. Yoder, who has led the Hornets to 23 wins in the last 4 seasons, said “with the uncertainty we are all experiencing, it’s nice to be able to look forward to the Fall and see what we have in front of us.”
With the recent announcement of the cancellation of the Spring sports schedule at Shenandoah, the Hornets honored their senior athletes on their website, including 13 members of the baseball team. Dr. Bridget Lyons, Director of Athletics at SU, announced the cancellation of the
remainder of the Spring schedule on the 20th, saying, “my heart breaks for our student-athletes. This is a decision we did not come to lightly.”
And the Washington Redskins have signed cornerback Ronald Darby to a one-year, $4 million contract, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The former Philadelphia Eagle and Oxon Hill, Md. native suffered an ACL injury in 2018 and has played in only 57 percent of the Eagle’s games.
