SU Falls In NCAA Tourney, Rams & Pioneers Seasons End, Caps Win
The Shenandoah University women’s basketball team saw their magical season-ending run come to an end Friday, as they were defeated by DeSales 77-49 in the NCAA Division-3 tournament. The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 21 by turning up the defensive intensity and forcing 20 Hornet turnovers. The contest was never in doubt as DeSales raced to a 28-11 first quarter lead and never looked back. SU, the ODAC tournament champ, ends it’s season at 16-14.

men’s lacrosse routed Averett 19-1
women’s lacrosse lost to CNU 17-9
and women’s tennis fell to Shepherd 8-1
And, SU senior Shamyra Wilkerson has qualified for the NCAA Division-3 Indoor Track Championships. Wilkerson, the 2019 ODAC 200 meter champ, has qualified for both the 200 and 60 meter dashes.
The Millbrook and Strasburg girl’s basketball teams saw their seasons end Friday in the VHSL state tournament. The Pioneers dropped a 45-39 decision to Carroll County in the Class 4 tournament, while the Rams dropped a 39-38 heartbreaker to Maggie Walker in the Class 2 bracket.
Alex Ovechkin was awarded a shootout goal in a 3-2 Capitals win against the Rangers yesterday. In the shootout, it was determined that the New York goalie threw his stick in an attempt to stop the Ovechkin shot. The puck did not go in the net, but because of the violation, the winning goal was given to the Caps, who improve to 38-21-7 on the season. Next up, a Wednesday trip to Philadelphia. Air time is 7:15 on Sports Radio 1450.
And the Wizards outscored the Timberwolves last night 135-124.
