SU Recap, Caps Stop Flyers, DeChambeau Wins At Bay Hill
On the SU scoreboard, 3 Tanner Bernard to Dillon Costello TD passes and a dominating Hampden-Sydney defense were the difference in a 26-0 football win over the Hornets on Saturday night. The Tigers broke open a 6-0 game at halftime by scoring 2 times in the first 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter, as Shenandoah falls to 0-2. The Hornets have a bye week before facing Randolph Macon on the 19th.
To the NHL, where the Washington Capitals got goals from Alex Ovechkin, Dmitry Orlov, and Nick Jensen in a 3-1 win over the Flyers. The Caps, who went 4-1 on the five-game road trip, return home tomorrow to face New Jersey. Air time is 6:45 on The River 95-3.
On the PGA Tour, big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau held off Lee Westwood in tough conditions yesterday to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. DeChambeau finished at 11-under par after posting one of the few sub-par rounds on the day.
Defense was just an afterthought, as Team Lebron defeated Team Durant 170-150 in the NBA All-Star Game.
And, the Liberty Flames punched their ticket to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament with a 79-75 win over North Alabama in the Atlantic Sun Championship Game yesterday. The major conference tournaments take place this week, including the Big-12 and ACC.
