SU Weekend Recap, All Area HS Teams Advance, Caps Skate Tonight
On the Shenandoah University sports scene,
Number 22 baseball exploded for 16 hits in a 19-4 rout of Mount Aloysius. The Hornets improved to 10-1 on the season.
Elijah Morton became the first male in program history to qualify for the NCAA Track & Field Championships. He will compete Friday in the 60-meter dash preliminaries in Winston-Salem, NC.
Women’s Lacrosse stayed unbeaten with a Saturday win over St. Mary’s.
All 5 area high school basketball teams still alive in the VHSL State Tournament advanced on Friday night. Here are the matchups for tomorrow night:
Millbrook takes on Woodrow Wilson in a boys Class 4 semifinal.
Central plays Cave Spring in a boys Class 3 semi.
It’s Millbrook versus Monacan in a Class 4 girls semifinal
And Luray takes on Strasburg in a girls Class 2 semifinal
The Washington Capitals skate in Buffalo tonight in NHL action. The Caps are tied with the Philadelphia Flyers atop the Metro Division and are coming off a big 5-2 win against Pittsburgh on Saturday. Air time is 6:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
The Detroit Tigers downed the Washington Nationals yesterday in Spring Training baseball. The Nats are back in action tomorrow against Miami at 1:05.
And the DC Defenders got back to their winning ways with a 15-6 XFL win over St. Louis yesterday in front of over 16-thousand fans at Audi Field. The win creates a 3-way tie at the top of the East Division.
