SU Baseball Wins ODAC, Nats Blanked In LA, Davis Leads O’s
Shenandoah University baseball is headed back to the NCAA Division-3 tournament after successfully defending their league title over the weekend. The Hornets won a “winner take all” game Saturday afternoon in Salem against Randolph-Macon 5-4, after the Yellow Jackets forced the deciding game earlier in the day. It’s the 3rd ODAC championship for Kevin Anderson’s squad, who will be making it’s sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament. The 31-12 Hornets will play in a 4-team regional this weekend, and will officially receive their bid later this afternoon.
3 SU Track & Field athletes competed in the Mount Olive Last Chance Qualifier yesterday. Shamyra Wilkerson placed 18th in the 100 meter prelim after posting the second best time in school history. Meanwhile, Elijah Morton ran a school and personal best in the 100 meter dash, and Jason White finished sixth in the triple jump.
The Washington Nationals were held to just one hit yesterday by the Dodgers’ Hyun-Jin Ryu in a 6-0 defeat in LA. The lone Nats hit was an 8th inning double by Gerardo Parra, as Washington had to settle for a split of the 4-game weekend series. The Nationals, now 7 1/2 games back of the Phillies in the NL East, have the day off before hosting the New York Mets Tuesday on Sports Radio 1450.
And the Orioles got a Homer from Chris Davis in a 5-1 win against the Angels yesterday. The O’s take on the Yankees in New York tonight at 6:35.
