Weekend HS Recap, SU Update, Caps Skate Tonight
In area high school football this weekend:
Skyline routed Warren County 39-8
Strasburg fell to Luray 35-28
Clarke blanked Rappahannock 84-0
Handley spanked James Wood 44-21
Sherando beat Kettle Run 21-7
Millbrook handled Culpeper 19-6
and Monroe defeated Central 31-17
On the Shenandoah University sports scene:
Men’s Basketball dropped their season opener at Mary Washington 81-53
Women’s hoop fell to Marymount Saturday at the Wilkins Center 64-39
and Field Hockey lost to Lynchburg 2-0 in the ODAC Championship game
Hornet football returns to action Saturday against Washington & Lee. Air time is 12:30 on The River 95-3.
In college football this past weekend:
Virginia Tech upset Wake Forest 36-17
Virginia beat Georgia Tech 33-28
WVU fell to Texas Tech 38-17
and JMU routed New Hampshire 54-16
In the NFL yesterday:
The Baltimore Ravens improved to 7-2 with a 49-13 beat-down of the Bengals. Lamar Jackson was 15-of-17 for 223 yards with 3 touchdown passes, and rushed for 65 more to lead the Ravens. Cincinnati remains winless at 0-9.
In the Sunday Night game, Kirk Cousins and the Vikings held off Dallas at Jerry World 28-24. Cousins tossed 2 scores for Minnesota, while Dalvin Cook added 97 yards rushing. Dak Prescott threw for almost 400 yards in a losing effort, as the Cowboys dropped to 5-4.
The Redskins had the day off. They’ll face the New York Jets Sunday at Fed-Ex Field.
And, the Washington Capitals go for their 7th straight win tonight when they host the Arizona Coyotes at 7pm. Air time is 6:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
