Prater FG Foils WFT Comeback, Pats Stun Ravens, DJ Wins The Masters
Matt Prater’s 59-yard field goal as time expired ended a furious Washington Football Team comeback in a 30-27 Detroit Lions victory. Trailing 24-3, Washington eventually tied the game at 27 with just 16 seconds left in regulation. That was enough time for Matthew Stafford to get Detroit into field goal range for the game-winner. Washington QB Alex Smith threw for a career-high 390 yards in the loss.
Damien Harris rushed for 121 yards in a pouring rain, as the New England Patriots upset the Baltimore Ravens in the Sunday Night NFL game 23-17. Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson threw for 249 yards and rushed for 55 more as the Ravens fell to 6-3 on the season.
Elsewhere in the NFL yesterday, The Pittsburgh Steelers routed Cincinnati 36-10 to stay undefeated at 9-0, the Giants stopped the eagles 27-17, and Tom Brady threw for 341 yards and 3 scores as Tampa Bay clobbered Carolina 46-23. Tonight’s Monday Night game has Minnesota taking on Chicago in an NFC North matchup.
Dustin Johnson posted a record-setting 20-under par total and cruised to his first Masters title yesterday at Augusta National. The 20-under total was 2 shots better than the previous record, held by Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. Johnson, the world’s number-one player, was five shots better than Cameron Smith and SJ Im.
