SU Men And Women Triumph, Skins Lose Game & QB, Caps back On The Ice
The Shenandoah University men and women’s basketball teams were victorious over the weekend. On Saturday, the Hornet men won their 2nd in a row by beating Elizabethtown (Pa) 80-57 in their home opener at Wilkins Center. SU led wire-to-wire as they jumped out to a 17-4 lead and never looked back. Chris Chaney led the way with 24 for the 2-1 Hornets.
The Shenandoah women stayed undefeated earlier in the day with a 53-47 win over Penn State-Altoona. Jordan Sondrol’s double-double led the 3-0 Hornets, who avenged last year’s loss to the Lions.
In the NFL, the Washington Redskins lost QB Alex Smith for the season in a 23-21 loss to Houston at Fed-Ex Field. Smith suffered a broken tibia and fibula while being sacked by JJ Watt. Backup Colt McCoy finished the game for the ‘Skins, who dropped to 6-4 and now are just a game ahead of the Cowboys in the NFC East. The two teams play on Thanksgiving Day.
