A furious second half comeback fell short Saturday as Shenandoah University lost to Emory & Henry 41-31. The Hornets, who trailed 24-0 in the first half and 31-10 at halftime, outscored the Wasps 21-10 in the second half and had several chances to get as close as 3 points. Freshman quarterback Chris Sonnenberg threw for 340 yards for SU, but threw 5 picks in the contest. The Hornets will travel to Ferrum this Saturday for a 12:30 air time on Sports Radio 1450.
The Washington Nationals now trail the World Series 3 games to 2 after a 7-1 loss last night to the Astros. Gerrit Cole cruised to the win, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 9 in 7 innings of work. The Nats now face elimination as they return to Houston for game 6 tomorrow night. Stephen Strasburg will take the mound for Washington for the 8:07 first pitch. Air time is 7pm on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
The Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens both had the day off yesterday in the NFL. In the Sunday Night game, Green Bay held off Kansas City 31-24. Tonight, the Dolphins play at Pittsburgh.
And, Tiger Woods won the PGA Tour’s ZOZO Championship in Japan, tying Sam Snead’s record of 82 Tour victories.
