Gruden Fired, SU Football Wins 3rd, Nats On The Brink,
Multiple sources are reporting that Washington Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden has been fired by the team. Gruden was just 35-49-1 in over 5 seasons with the ‘Skins, with just one playoff appearance. The team’s 0-5 start was the worst since 2001. No report on who will replace Gruden in the interim.
Shenandoah University football improved to 3-1 on the season, and 2-1 in the ODAC, with a convincing 42-14 win Saturday over Southern Virginia at Shentel Stadium. SU quarterback Ben Agostinio threw for over 500 yards and tossed 6 TD passes, while the Shenandoah defense held Knights running back Akiva Wedge to almost 70 yards below his season average. The Hornets now face league-leading Randolph-Macon Saturday in Ashland. Air time is 12:30 on The River 95-3.
The Washington Redskins fell to 0-5 on the season with a 33-7 loss to New England yesterday at Fed-Ex Field. The lone Washington score came on a 65-yard run by Steven Sims, Jr. in the first quarter. New England’s Tom Brady threw for 348 yards and 3 scores, as the Patriots stayed undefeated at 5-0. Next up for the ‘Skins is a trip to Miami next Sunday.

Most of the damage came against starter-turned-reliever Patrick Corbin, who replaced Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez gave the Nats 5 innings of 1-run, 9-strikeout ball and left the game with a 2-1 lead. Juan Soto gave the Nationals that lead with a 2-run first inning home run.
Max Scherzer will try to stave off elimination for the Nationals tonight, starting at 6pm on Sports radio 1450.
