SU Update, Nats Walk Off Phils, Caps-Canadiens Tonight
Shenandoah baseball nipped Washington & Lee 8-6 yesterday in an ODAC contest. SU broke a 5-5 tie with a 3-run seventh inning, and improved to 12-7 overall and 6-5 in the league. Tyler Kroll was 4-for-5 for the Hornets, who return to action today against Mount Aloysius.
Elsewhere on the SU sports scene:
Men’s and Women’s tennis swept Hood 9-0 and 6-3 respectively,
Women’s lacrosse ripped Randolph 17-2 to stay undefeated in the ODAC
and Bridgewater outscored Men’s lacrosse 15-14
Jake Noll’s 9th-inning, bases loaded walk gave the Washington Nationals a 9-8 win yesterday over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Nats took an early 6-2 lead on homers by Anthony Rendon, Ryan Zimmerman, and Juan Soto, only to see their bullpen surrender yet another lead. But the Nationals rallied with a 2-run eighth inning, and the game winner in the ninth. The Nats take on the Mets in New York this afternoon at 12:40 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Oriole’s 4-game win streak came to a halt yesterday in Toronto, as the Blue Jays beat the Birds 5-3. Trey Mancini continued his hot start for Baltimore with a 3-run homer in the loss. The O’s host the Yankees this afternoon at 3:05.
And the Capitals are back on the ice tonight when they host the Montreal Canadiens at 7pm. A win tonight would clinch the Metro Division title for the Caps, who have already wrapped up a playoff spot. Air time tonight is 6:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
Be sure to catch the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament this Saturday on Sports Radio 1450, as UVA takes on Auburn, and Michigan State battles Texas Tech. Coverage begins at 4:30. We’ll also have the play-by-play of the National Championship game Monday night.
