The Washington Nationals dropped their third straight game to the St. Louis Cardinals last night 4-2, and in the process, fell 9 games behind the Braves in the NL East. The Nats squandered several scoring opportunities in dropping their 4th consecutive game overall. Washington starter Jeremy Hellickson had to,leave the contest in the fifth inning due to an injuted wrist. Bryce Harper was 2-for-4 for the Nats, who try to salvage the series finale tonight against the red-hot Cards. Air time 6:40 on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
The New York mets crushed the Baltimore Orioles last night 16-5. The Mets broke the game open with a 9-run sixth inning, as the Birds fell to 36-85 on the season. The O’s are off tonight before starting a weekend series tomorrow in Cleveland.
The Washington Redskins entertain the New York Jets tonight at Fed-Ex Field. The two teams practiced jointly earlier in the week, and were involved in a Sunday brawl that spilled into the fan area. Expect limited action from the starters tonight. Kickoff happens at 8.
Veteran NASCAR driver Elliot Sadler is calling it quits after the 2018 season. Sadler has a combined 17 wins in the 3 major NASCAR series over a 24-year span.
And, Johnny Manziel has been placed in the CFL’s concussion protocol after being hit in last Saturday’s game against Ottawa. Manziel also notified the team medical staff that medication he takes for bipolar disorder may be a contributing factor.
