SU Basketball Recap, Caps Dethrone Kings, Purdue Routs Cavs
On the Shenandoah University Sports scene:
Hornet Men’s Basketball had it’s 3-game winning streak ended last night in a 74-56 loss to Marymount. SU shot just 36 percent from the field in falling to 3-3 on the season. Chris Chaney had 10 points and 13 boards for Shenandoah, who will be in action Saturday at Hampden-Sydney. Air time is 1:40 on The River 95-3.
The Hornet Women improved to 4-2 with a 63-55 win at Goucher. SU got off to a 16-7 start and never looked back in winning their fourth straight game. Jordan Sondrol had 18 for the Hornets, and is now just 34 points shy of 1000 for her career. Next up for the SU Women, a Saturday home game against Roanoke. Tip off is at 2pm.
Number-5 Virginia was routed at Purdue last night 69-40. With the loss, the Cavaliers fall to 7-1 on the season.
The Washington Capitals shut down the LA Kings last night 3-1 in Los Angeles. John Carlson had 2 goals for the red-hot Caps, who improved to 21-4-5 on the season. The capitals continue their west coast trip tomorrow night against the Anaheim Ducks. Air time is 9:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
And the NFL weekend continues tonight, as does the Jason Garrett watch, as the Cowboys visit the Bears at 8:20. 6-6 Dallas is a 3-point favorite.
