Area HS Hoop, Big Win For SU Women, ‘Eers Fall To KU

On the Shenandoah University sports scene:
Women’s basketball led by as many as 21 points and cruised to an 83-70 ODAC win at Bridgewater. With the win, the Hornets stayed in contention for the regular-season title, and knocked the Eagles from the top spot in the ODAC. Jordan Sondrol led the way for SU with 21 points, as Shenandoah improved to 15-7 overall, and 11-4 in the league. Next up, a 4:30 tip Saturday at the Wilkins Center against Guilford.

#3 Kansas ended the game on a 26-8 run and handed #14 WVU it’s first home loss of the season last night, 58-49. The 18-6 Mounties led by 6 at the half and by as many as 9 before the Jayhawks mounted their comeback. West Virginia, which shot just 19-for-60 from the floor and turned the ball over 18 times, must now travel to #1 Baylor Saturday at 4pm.
And, the Washington Capitals return to the ice tonight with a 9:30 pm skate against Colorado. The Caps have been outscored in their last 2 games 12-5, and lead Pittsburgh by just 3 points in the NHL’s Metro Division. You can hear tonight’s game on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
