Area HS Hoop, SU B-Ball Splits 2, Flacco Goes West
In area boys high-school hoop last night:
Sherando nipped Faquier 52-48
Skyline handed Warren County a 65-44 defeat
It was James Wood over Millbrook 52-42
In girls action:
James Wood routed Kettle Run 59-25
Srasburg beat Madison 45-31
Page defeated Riverheads 49-43
Foxcroft beat Wakefield 21-18
Sherando ran past Faquier 51-41

Skyline dominated Warren County 69-31
In a game heard on The River 95-3 last night, Shenandoah University men’s basketball lost to Virginia Wesleyan 86-75 at the Wilkins Center. The Hornets got 24 from Jaylen Williams and 20 from Chris Chaney, but it wasn’t enough, as SU fell to 5-19, and 1-14 in the ODAC. Shenandoah will wrap up it’s season Saturday at home against Randolph. Tip off is at 2pm on WZRV.
The Hornet women improved to 11-13, and 7-10 in the ODAC with a 60-46 victory over Eastern Mennonite last night at the Wilkins Center. The Hornets got 18 from Shannon Kuhn in the win. The SU women, who have clinched a spot in the ODAC tournament, can still host a home game in the tourney depending on what happens Saturday. The Hornets will be on the road Saturday in the regular season finale at Lynchburg.
The Virginia Tech Hokies improved to 19-5 with a 76-68 win last night against Georgia Tech. The Hokies, who trailed 30-27 at halftime, poured in 49 second-half points to seal the victory.
The Wizards headed into the NBA All-Star break with a 129-120 loss at Toronto last night. Bradley Beal’s 28 points and 11 assists led the ‘Zards, but didn’t prevent Washington from falling to 24-34 on the season.
And, it’s still unofficial, but sources sat that Baltimore Raven’s QB Joe Flacco has been traded to the Denver Broncos. the move, which can’t be finalized until March 13, would free up cap space for the Ravens.
