UVA Rolls…Hornet LAX Sweep…Wiz Cut Down Nets
The Shenandoah University men’s and women’s lacrosse teams picked up home wins yesterday. The men scored 8 consecutive goals and broke open a close game in a 12-5 win over Albright College. Michael Brooks led the way with 3 goals.
Meanwhile, the SU women beat McDaniel for the first time ever in a 9-8 win on the Sprint Field of Shentel Stadium. With the victory, the Hornets improve to 2-1 on the young season.
SU will entertain Gettysburg in a softball doubleheader today at 3:30.
And Hornet women’s basketball will play their opening round NCAA tournament game tomorrow at DeSales. The Bulldogs are 25-2, while Shenandoah is 16-13 after winning the ODAC tournament. Tip off is scheduled for 7pm.
The number-2 Virginia Cavaliers rolled over Georgia Tech last night in Charlottesville 81-51. The 25-2 ‘Hoos shot 56 percent from the floor while holding the Yellow Jackets to just 38 percent shooting. Ty Jerome led the Cavs with 19.
The Washington Wizards got 31 from Bradley Beal in a 125-116 road win over the Brooklyn Nets last night. The 25-36 Wizards are still on the outside-looking-in, but are just 3 games back of the 8th-seeded Charlotte Hornets in the NBA’s Eastern Conference playoff race.
