Area Hoop Scoreboard, Hornet Women Fall At Lynchburg, Cavs Back in Win Column
It was back on the hardwoods for several area basketball teams last night. In boys action, Skyline downed Warren County 75-54, Page beat Rappahannock 66-58, and Madison routed Luray 62-33. In girls hoop, Skyline defeated Warren County 54-42, and Luray outscored Madison 65-43.
A late 9-3 Lynchburg run spelled defeat for Shenandoah University Women’s Basketball last night, 63-58. SU led 49-48 with 2:34 left before Lynchburg pulled away. Sierra St. Cyr led Shenandoah with 24.
To the D-1 level, where number 14 Virginia beat NC State 64-57 last night. Trey Murphy and Sam Hauser had 18 apiece for the Cavaliers, who improved to 12-3. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech fell at Pittsburgh 83-72, as the Panthers got 47 points from it’s bench. The Hokies, who allowed 52 second half Panther points, fell to 13-4.
The Washington Capitals skate tonight against the New York Rangers. The Caps are currently in third place in the East Division with 15 points. Air time is 6:45 on The River 95-3.
