Area Hoop Results, Generals Out-Flank SU Men, UVA & WVU Victorious

Shenandoah men’s basketball dropped a 77-72 home decision to Washington & Lee last night at the Wilkins Center. The Hornets took a one-point lead into the break, but an 11-0 Generals run early in the second half broke the game open, as SU fell to 6-15 overall and 3-9 in the ODAC. Zach Garrett had 14 to lead the Hornets, who travel to Ferrum Saturday for a 2pm contest on The River 95-3.
In other SU news, the 2-time defending ODAC baseball champion Hornets
are the number 2 pick of the leagues coaches in the pre-season poll released yesterday. SU opens it’s season February 15th.
The Virginia Cavaliers held Clemson to just 14 first half points on the way to a 51-44 ACC win last night in Charlottesville. The win was the third straight for UVA, who improved to 15-6 on the season. The Cavs will now head to #5 Louisville saturday for a 4pm tip off.
And #13 WVU had no problem with Iowa State last night, disposing of Iowa State 76-61. The 18-4 Mountaineers built a 24-point second half lead and cruised to the win in Morgantown. The Mounties hit the road Saturday for a Big-12 game against Oklahoma.
