HS Scoreboard, Hokies Win, Caps Skate Tonight
In girls high school hoop yesterday, Warren County stopped Faquier 48-40, Luray nipped Strasburg 66-62, Madison beat Clarke 33-28, and Page got past Stonewall 46-38. In boys basketball, Faquier defeated Warren County 67-50, while Page routed Stonewall 60-40.
Number-20 Virginia tech got back in the win column last night with a 62-51 win at Notre Dame. Four Hokies scored in double figures, and the Tech defense held the Irish to just 35 percent shooting as they improved to 12-3 on the season.
The Washington Capitals are back on the ice tonight when they host the New York Islanders. The Caps will try to set a franchise mark tonight by earning at least a point in it’s first eight games. The puck drops at 7 on The River 95-3.
And, the Washington Nationals have come to terms with pitcher Jon Lester. The 37 year-old left hander signed a one-year, $5 million contract that will add him to an already stacked starting rotation. The 16-year veteran has spent his last 6 seasons with the Cubs, and has been a part of 3 World Series champions.
