The number-12 ranked Randolph Macon Yellow Jackets shot 50 percent from 3-point range in a 96-76 win over Shenandoah University last night. With the win, RMC completed a season sweep over the Hornets, who got 20 points from Jayln Jarrett and 16 from Chris Chaney. The loss dropped Shenandoah to 5-15 overall and 1-10 in the ODAC. Next up for SU, a Saturday 4pm tip against Ferrum on the River 95-3. That game is part of a men-women’s doubleheader at the Wilkins Center. The Hornet women play at 2.
12th-ranked Virginia Tech beat Miami last night in an ACC matchup, 82-70. With the road win, the Hokies improved to 17-3 on the season.
Another ugly loss for Bob Huggins’ WVU Mountaineers last night, as they were dumptrucked by Iowa State 93-68. West Virginia, ranked 13th to start the season, is now 9-12 on the year.
The Wizards got back in the win column last night, rolling past Indiana 107-89 in DC. Bradley Beal led the 22-29 Wizards with 25 points.
And, NFL “Commish” Roger Goodell finally addressed the controversial no-call in the NFC Championship Game. Goodell said that he’s talked to Saints Head Coach Sean Payton and the players about it and understands their frustration, and added that the league will look at using instant replay. The River 95-3 has the play-by-play radio call of Super Bowl 53 this Sunday, with coverage starting at 2 pm.
