Off the field, the Nats have activated right handed pitcher Kyle Barraclough from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Double-A Harrisburg. Barraclough had been sidelined since mid-June with irritation in his right forearm, and up to that point had struggled to a 6.39 ERA.
At Wimbledon, the top 3 men’s seeds advanced to the semifinals yesterday as Novak Djokovic, Roger Fereder, and Rafael Nadal all won their matches. Today, 11th seed Serena Williams will take on Barbora Strycova in a semifinal matchup.
And, former major league pitcher Jim Bouton has died at 80. He was famous for writing the baseball “tell-all” book Ball Four. In addition to pitching for the New York Yankees, Seattle Pilots and Houston Astros, he also appeared in the movie “The Long Goodbye” with Elliot Gould, and starred in a CBS TV series based on Ball Four.
