Nats & Yanks Tonight, NFL Fan Protocols, Olympic Update
Baseball is finally back, with the World Series Champion Washington Nationals hosting the New York Yankees tonight in the regular-season opener. The Nats will send Max Scherzer to the hill against the Yankees Gerrit Cole in a marquee matchup. First pitch is 7:08 on CBS Sports Radio 1450. The second half of the Opening Night doubleheader will have the Dodgers taking on the Giants out west.
If any fans are allowed at NFL games this season, they will have to wear face masks. That’s according to NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, who tweeted yesterday “yes, it is league-wide.” McCarthy said that while the NFL will require face masks, other stadium decisions, such as fan attendance and the number allowed, are up to local officials.
And, the president of the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee said yesterday that the Games, which have already been delayed until next summer, won’t be played if pandemic conditions stay the same. Yoshiro Mori said he’s hopeful the situation will improve, and that a vaccine is key. The Olympic Games are set to open one year from today.
