VBL Scores, Nats Win In 11, Mets Rout O’s
In the Valley Baseball League last night, Winchester topped Woodstock 9-7, Front Royal outscored New Market 6-2, and Strasburg out-slugged Purcellville 16-7. Among tonight’s VBL action, Strasburg entertains New Market at 7.
Starlin Castro’s RBI double in the 11th inning was the difference in a 9-7 Nationals’ win over Tampa Bay last night. Ryan Zimmerman and Juan Soto homered for the Nats, who improved to 25-33 on the season. The Nationals start a weekend series against the San Francisco Giants tonight at Nats Park. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles were routed by the New York Mets 14-1. The Birds are off today.
And, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal won their quarterfinal matches at the French Open tennis tournament. On the women’s side, American Coco Gauff was eliminated.
