Virginia & WVU In Final AP Poll, NBA Charity Game?, Gronk To Host Wrestlemania
Despite the cancellation of March Madness, a final AP Top-25 College Basketball Poll was released yesterday. 28-3 Kansas finishes the abbreviated basketball season at number-one. The rest of the top-5 was Gonzaga, Dayton, Florida State, and Baylor. Virginia (23-7) was number 16, while WVU, at 21-10, came in at number 24.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says that with play suspended because of the coronavirus, the league is considering a charity game to give fans something to watch. Silver said to ESPN “you take a subset of players, and is there a protocol where they can be tested and quarantined and isolated in some way, and they could compete against one another?”
Retired New England tight end Rob Gronkowski is set to host the WWE’s Wrestlemania next month. The event was originally set for April 5th at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, but because of the coronavirus, it will be held in the WWE Performance Center in Orlando with out fans, over two nights, April 4th and 5th.
And, among the NFL news yesterday, Jacksonville traded quarterback Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears.
