Caps Win In Shootout Round, SU Scoreboard, WVU In Action Tonight

The Washington Capitals picked up a 2-1 win over Boston last night, in a game decided in the shootout round. Down 1-0, Lars Eller tied matters in the third period, and after a scoreless overtime, Jakub Vranalit the lamp for the 13-5-4 Caps. The Capitals will skate against the Bruins again Friday at 7. Because of Shenandoah University football, there will be no broadcast of Caps hockey.

Speaking of SU, Women’s Volleyball opened it’s season with a 3-0 exhibition win against Potomac State, and Women’s Soccer improved to 2-0 with a 4-1 win over Randolph-Macon. There are no events scheduled today. Hornet Football plays it’s home opener tomorrow night against Hampden-Sydney. Air time is 6:30 on The River 95-3.

In College Hoop, number-6 WVU returns to action tonight when they host TCU at 7.

And in Washington Nationals’ news, newly acquired pitcher Jon Lester is leaving training camp to have a thyroid gland removed. It’s hoped that the 37 year-old left hander will be ready for his turn in the rotation once the regular season begins. The Nats take on the Mets in Spring training action today.
