Patrick Corbin had another strong outing last night as the Nationals beat the New York Mets 5-1 in DC. The Nats posted 3 runs in the first inning and that’s all the Washington lefty would need as he struck out 11 and allowed only 4 hits in his 8 innings of work. The rubber game of the series is this afternoon starting at 12:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles suffered a doubleheader sweep yesterday at the hands of the New York Yankees. David Hess gave up 4 Yankee homers in the opening game 5-3 loss. In the nightcap, 3 New York pitchers combined to shut down the O’s 3-1. The Birds travel to Cleveland tonight for a 6:10 first pitch.
And, the 101st PGA Championship gets underway today at the challenging Bethpage Black course in New York. Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka, and Dustin Johnson are among the players who will tackle the 7700-yard layout in hopes of capturing golf’s second major championship of the year.
