Hamlin Takes Checkered Flag, NCAA Allows Workouts, Body Of Former WWE Superstar Found
Denny Hamlin won NASCAR’s second race after it’s coronavirus shutdown last night, taking the checkered flag at the Toyota 500 at Darlington. It was the first Cup Series race on a Wednesday night since 1984. The race was stopped with 20 laps remaining because of rain.
The NCAA Division I Council voted yesterday to allow voluntary workouts by football and basketball players starting June 1st. NCAA officials said health and safety protocols mandated by their schools or local health officials would have to be followed. Meanwhile, Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith said he believes the school’s football team could safely play games with 20-30 thousand fans init’s 105-thousand seat stadium.
And, the body of former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard was found yesterday washed up on Venice Beach in California, 3 days after he went missing while swimming with his 10 year-old son. The two got caught up in a rip current, and Gaspard told rescuers to help his son
first before a wave crashed down and he disappeared. Gaspard’s son was rescued. The 39 year-old Gaspard retired from the WWE in 2010.
