Mets Crush Nats ‘Pen Again, O’s Fall To Yanks, Wilkerson To NCAA’s
On the Shenandoah University scene, Shamyra Wilkerson will compete in the NCAA Division-3 Track & Field Championships starting today in Geneva, Ohio. She will compete in the 100 meter prelims today, and the 200 meter prelims tomorrow. The Championships continue through Saturday.
Meanwhile, SU baseball will play Johns Hopkins in an NCAA Super-Regional tomorrow in Baltimore. The winner of the best 2-of-3 series will advance to the D-3 World Series. The Hornets, champions of the ODAC, are 35-13, and winners of 16 of their last 18 games.
Juan Lagares’ 3-run double off Sean Doolittle erased a 1-0 Nationals lead and propelled the New York Mets to a 6-1 win last night at Citi Field. The Mets added a 3-run homer in the 6-run eighth inning to spoil another strong performance by Max Scherzer, who shut out New York for six innings, striking out 9. The Nats lone run came in the first on an Adam Eaton solo home run. The Nationals try to avoid the sweep this afternoon as Stephen Strasburg takes the mound. Air time is 11:40 on SportsRadio 1450.
And, the Baltimore Orioles lost again to the New York Yankees, falling 7-5 last night at Camden Yards. Dan Straily took the loss for the 15-34 Birds, giving up 6 earned runs in 4 innings of work. The 2 teams play the series finale today at 12:35.
